CFA piling in Ujście at DK11

As part of the contract being carried out by PORR Polska on behalf of GDDKiA (General Directorate for National Roads and Motorways) for the demolition of the bridge on the DK11 in Ujście, we have been commissioned to construct the foundations for one of the culverts.

The scope of work comprises just under 30 CFA piles, each 500 mm in diameter and up to 11.0 m deep. However, it is not the number of piles that poses the challenges under this contract – it is the location and the need to maintain traffic flow.

The location in an urban area with a dense network of underground infrastructure necessitated the use of CFA bored piles – shallower solutions could not be used. CFA piles allow for precise foundation work within the tight grid of existing utility networks.

The DK11 is a very busy road linking Piła and Poznań. We were not given permission to close that section to traffic – and rightly so, as it would have caused serious disruption on that part of the route.

We are carrying out the works in two stages, using alternating traffic and ensuring that the road remains open to traffic at all times.

A compact scope and challenging logistics – TERGON once again proves that it rises to the challenge wherever conditions determine solutions.
